Construction waste is increasingly important to the retail sector. Until now it has been overshadowed by more visible environmental issues such as plastic bags and packaging. But the Government's focus on reducing the 25 million tonnes of construction waste that go to landfill each year, leading to new Site Waste Management Plan legislation and sharp increases in landfill tax, mean the retail sector has to take this seriously.
