Lincoln-based contractor Lindum Waste Recovery (LWR) opened its £1 million waste transfer station in 2004. The recycling facility was built to reduce tipping costs from its own construction sites as well as lower its carbon footprintrnBy managing its own waste, LWR saved about £20,000 a month between November 2007 and July 2008. For the last three years the waste transfer station has also contributed an average of 1.26 per cent (£1.25 million) of its parent company's annual turnover.rnNot only does it recycle waste from its own construction sites but it also has its own industrial and commercial clients, ranging from furniture and electrical companies to farmers and hair salons.
