Last year, the Scottish Government unveiled plans for a new non-profit public financing model to fund construction projects. It was claimed the Scottish Futures Trust (SFT) would save up to £150 million each year and cost less than PPP/PFI tie-ups. It was a bold initiative designed to address the financial burden of PFI schemes and tackle the limited funding options open to the Scottish ministers.rnAlthough SFT has received a cautious endorsement by the CBI, others are more sceptical.
