Contractor Poll Reveals Benefit Of Apprenticeships

Three in four construction employers offering apprenticeships believe running the schemes has boosted staff retention. The Learning and Skills Council polled 100 contractors and released the results to mark Apprenticeship Week. Other findings included: 1. 77 per cent of construction firms said apprentices offered a better calibre of job applicant 2. Nine in 10 employers said apprenticeships resulted in greater employee motivation and job satisfaction 3. 77 per cent said apprentices helped boost productivity. 4. Six in 10 said employing apprentices reduced their overall training budget 5. 15 per cent of employers were hiring more apprentices to help them through tougher times.
