The publication of the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations in 2005 has led to a step change in the construction industry's atti-tude towards Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS).The introduction of the legal daily vibration exposure limit, making it a criminal offence to expose workers to a vibration dose that exceeds this limit, has caused significant changes in the way industry professionals manage HAVS.The challenge is to trans-late the regulations into sensible risk assessments and efficient and practical management systems.The regulations define a daily vibration action value above which additional measures are necessary, and a limit value which must not be exceeded.
