The Committee for European Construction Equipment, the European body representing plant manufacturers, is mounting a lobbying campaign to influence the EC's decisions on future rounds of emissions legislation. This is because emissions of paniculate matter and nitrous oxide from the exhaust pipes of off-highway machinery have already been substantially curtailed by successive rounds of legislation. When the forthcoming Stage 4 regulations start to come into force at the end of 2014, allowable particulate emissions from plant will have been reduced by 96 per cent from levels at Stage 1 and NOx will have been cut by more than 95 per cent.
