The pipelines of work are looking healthier in parts of the public sector such as health and social housing, which have recorded more than £100m worth of wins this year to date - and from very low bases no less. Utilities work is slipping back slightly on 2010 at £68m compared with £123m, but this spike last year was bouyed by a £60m wind farm project that started in January 2011. Spending cuts have not yet fully fed through into awards, but health took a hit in 2010, posting just £7m, with this year's surge suggesting a build-up in planned activity last year.
