When film director Mike Hughes chose the Trinity Square multistorey car park in Gateshead as one of his key locations for the 1971 British gangster flick Get Carter, it's likely he was totally unaware of the iconic status the film would bestow on the reinforced concrete edifice. As soon as mob-man Jack Carter, played by Sir Michael Caine,was seen to hurl crooked businessman Cliff Brumby (Bryan Mosley),from the roof of the building - designed by Owen Luder in homage to the Brutalist style of architecture - its fame was sealed.
