Chinese manufacturer LiuGong Machinery Corporation is one of the world's largest producers of wheel loaders, is the 15th biggest plant manufacturer in the world and is regarded as one of China's best plant manufacturers in terms of quality. During the recent Conexpo exhibition in Las Vegas it announced it was buying the plant manufacturing division of Polish company HSW which builds Dressta wheel loaders and dozers. This is the first takeover of a Western plant manufacturer by a Chinese company, despite such moves having been predicted for some time due to the strengths of the Chinese manufacturers, and the weakness of those in the West. CN spoke to LiuGong vice president of research and development David Beatenbough,who also heads the company's European operation, about its plans for the European market.
