Major firms hit by supply chain fraud

The UK's top construction firms are losing more than £800 million every year to supply chain fraud, it was claimed this week. Research shared exclusively with Construction News outlined the impact of fraud such as suppliers overcharging for work and subcontractors invoicing for work they have not done. The report - Minimising fraud, maximising results in the UK property sector - looked at 37 FTSE350-listed construction companies with total revenues of more than £35 billion, including Balfour Beatty, Carillion, Costain, Kier and Morgan Sindall.
