Regs under review

It is widely believed that current working at height regulations impose a disproportionate burden on businesses in construction. But Health and Safety Executive statistics show that incidents while working at height accounted for 16 per cent of all non-fatal injuries in 2010/11, making it one of the most common types of workplace accident. With strong arguments on both sides, it is unsurprising that the government has recommended that the Work at Height Regulations 2005 be reviewed as part of its wider drive to streamline health and safety burdens on businesses.
