It was suggested to the chancellor that the most compelling parts of his 'aspiring' Budget could have been summed up in a 140-character tweet, but I'm relieved that there were no really far-reaching changes to the capital allowance arena and in particular to the allowances that affect commercial property. The surprise increase of the Annual Investment Allowance from £25,000 to £250,000 for two years, applicable from 1 January 2013, in the chancellor's previous autumn statement provided us with much to consider as we advise those contemplating capital investment in commercial property, plant and equipment.
