Family-owned FK Group impressed the judges with its clear growth strategy and exemplary business culture. The building envelope specialist is celebrating 35 years in the industry this year, but managing director Francis Keenan's eyes are on the future, with a mission to become the first-choice provider of envelope solutions. FK Group's turnover in 2014 grew 33 per cent to £40.2m, up from £30.1m in 2013. Underpinning growth is a diversification strategy and a collaborative approach to customer relations. In late 2013, it responded to its customers' needs with the introduction of a specialist facades glazing division, which has already won projects including the glazed facade of Stoke-on-Trent's new city council headquarters at Smithfield. Adding new specialist services also means FK Group is diversifying into delivering more technically challenging and bespoke projects, including a cladding system for the £200m Manchester City Football Academy.
