Mobile storage firm on the up

"We're a one-stop shop," says Mobile Mini managing director Chris Morgan, when asked what sets the business apart from the competition. The firm specialises in supplying site accommodation and storage units - its 35,000-strong fleet makes it one of the biggest in the sector - and Mr Morgan says it is one of the few hirers that can provide a full service offering to contractors. "We've got a large fleet of secure storage containers - which make up about 70 per cent of our units - but unlike many of our competitors, we also do all the other units required on site - offices, canteens, toilet blocks and welfare units. "And that's all supported in-house. We carry out most of the stacking and linking of the units on site and we have our own delivery trucks - our rivals tend to use third parties - meaning we can control the safety and quality of the service we offer." Mobile Mini's recent growth is testimony to Mr Morgan's approach. The US-owned firm turned over £53m in the UK in 2014, up 10 per cent on 2013, and this is its fourth consecutive year of growth - not bad considering the recent recession.
