Turkish military pension fund holder Ataer Holdings has been selected as preferred bidder for British Steel by the receiver. In a statement, the official receiver said the company is in exclusive talks to buy the Scunthorpe-based manufacturer. Heads of agreement terms to purchase British Steel have been signed, and a period of "detailed due diligence" will now follow. The statement added: "I will be looking to conclude this process in the coming weeks, during which time British Steel continues to trade."
