Preferred bidders for £5bn Network Rail deal revealed

Network Rail has announced preferred bidders for track and rail system alliances in the South to Colas Rail and Aecom, and in Scotland to Babcock Rail,Arup and Arcadis. The contracts are worth an estimated £5bn and are subject to a finalisation of terms, with procurement currently at a standstill period, according to a statement from Network Rail. Both alliances will cover works over a 10-year period - lasting five years initially with an option to extend for a further five.
