Morgan Sindall picked for £384m Britannia job

Morgan Sindall has been chosen by Hackney Council as the preferred bidder for phase one of its £384m Britannia development. The contractor has signed a preconstruction agreement with the council for the package, which will deliver a new leisure centre and a 1,100-place secondary school next to Shoreditch Park. The leisure centre will be located on existing outdoor asphalt courts, while the academy will be built on the site of the current Britannia Leisure Centre and car park. Once complete, the centre will include a six-lane, 25 m main pool with moveable floor, a six-court sports hall, four squash courts, two 5-a-side football pitches, two tennis courts, a fitness centre and a cafe. Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure was chosen for the project through the Southern Construction Framework, which is available to public bodies in the southern England to procure major building works.
