Plans unveiled for a new Bristol basketball arena

Plans have been unveiled for a new ElOOm indoor arena and conference centre next to Bristol City FC's Ashton Gate stadium. Developer Ashton Gate Ltd has published proposals for a 4,000-capacity venue alongside new housing, offices, two hotels and a multi-storey car park. The Ashton Gate Sports & Convention Centre will be directly attached to the football stadium and provide a permanent home for the Bristol Flyers basketball team. Earlier this month Bristol City Council scrapped a separate £l23m plan to build a 12,000-seat arena in the city centre. The council has opted instead for a mixed-use development, including a conference centre, hotel and retail spaces.
