Wates chosen on £30m Liverpool Waters hotel

Wates has been chosen to build a 200-bed hotel in Liverpool as part of the city's new cruise terminal. The £30m hotel forms part of the wider £5bn regeneration of Liverpool Waters, put forward by developer Peel Land & Property and Liverpool City Council. In March the council appointed McLaughlin & Harvey to conduct preparation work for the new terminal, the value of which is estimated at approximately £50m. Work includes finalising the design and construction method, as well as enabling works. Wates was selected for the four-star hotel through Scape's £500m national construction framework. Scape CEO Mark Robinson said: "Our framework ensures the social value created as a product of the works will be felt throughout the local community, during the project and long after completion."
