摘要

The definition, generation, capture, sharing and use of knowledge is not straightforward. This is particularly true in construction where the majority of activities are in the context of unique projects involving an array of stakeholders over a significant period of time. Cliches such as 'don't reinvent the wheel' and 'never make the same mistake twice' are perhaps over-used, but unfortunately there is a substantial truth to their relevance to our industry. This seven-chapter work by six contributing authors brings together and reflects upon the relevant literature. Building on this literature, an appropriate methodology is subsequently devised, which in turn leads to the development and testing of a prototype ICT application. The book includes 245 references, the majority of which are from the 2000-2005 period. The overall structure is very clear with a nice mix of text and graphics. The core seven chapters cover 157 pages and are well written.
