The industrial sector is driven by business and consumer confidence, largely reflecting the state of the wider economy. The sector as a whole experienced a substantial decline in output during the recession. After three years of contraction industrial output is anticipated to expand in 2010, and continue to recover throughout the forecast period as the UK and the world economies continue to expand.
