Cat adds to HEX range

The latest additions to Caterpillar's large hydraulic excavator (HEX) range were designed with four principles in mind - uptime, performance, operating costs and safety. The newly-launched 90-tonne 390D L replaces the 385C L, while the 72,6 tonne 374D, introduced earlier this year, is said to have been a direct replacement for the 365C model. A new line of pin-on and coupler buckets for both new models features new designs "to take full advantage of increased machine performance", according to the company. Jerome Claret, HEX product specialist at Caterpillar, said that uptime was critical for large HEX machines.
