New frontiers

It has been an eventful year so far in the powered access sector, with an abundant supply of mergers, acquisitions and new players. It kicked off in January with the announcement by JCB that it was entering the access market with no less than 27 planned product launches this year. The new range of scissor lifts and self-propelled booms is essentially designed to cover 80% of a typical access rental company's needs. The other 20% includes lower volume, niche products that JCB said it was not set up to produce, at least in the foreseeable future.
