The new 19C-1E is JCB's first ever electric excavator, and the company said it would allow contractors to work inside buildings, in emissions-sensitive inner city environments and in tunnels or underground, without having to install costly exhaust extraction equipment. The machine features three lithium-ion battery packs providing a 15kWh storage capacity, while the convenient on-board charger with 230V/110V input gives 5- to 8-hour recharging capability. A standard load-sensing hydraulic system is claimed to deliver powerful digging performance while the battery management system is claimed to ensure full-shift availability. UK-based JCB has also launched the CT260 tandem roller, which it said had been designed to bring rental firms and operators a machine that was easier and more comfortable to use, safer to operate, simpler to service and cheaper to run.
