Liebherr Expands Haul Truck Lineup

Liebherr T 274 rigid-frame haul truck has a capacity of 336 tons. It is a new model for Liebherr, fitting between the 265-ton T 264 haul truck and the 400-ton T 284 truck. A 3,650-horsepower MTU 20V4000 C22 engine powers the T 274 haul truck, which is paired with the Liebherr Litronic Plus AC drive system that does not require the operator to shift gears. The system provides continuous uphill speed and has 6,035 horsepower dynamic braking power for downhill hauls. The rigid-frame haul truck matches up with the Liebherr R 9800 and Liebherr R 9600 mining excavators, according to the company. The R 9800 will load the Liebherr T 274 with four bucket passes. The frame and components are shared between both the new T 274 truck and the company's T 284 haul truck, which it says has logged more than 20 million hours of operation in the field. The truck's mining-optimized components are developed, manufactured, and controlled by Liebherr, which employs a vertical integration model to ensure performance and reliability for the entire machine, it says.
