Since the size of foundation increases to support the enormous superstructure, the massive foundation generates the problematic temperature development. This study addresses the use of horizontal construction joint referred to as "layered system" as a curing scheme for alleviating the thermal behavior of foundation. To compare the thermal performance of the layered system, the current curing schemes (e.g., insulation system, post-cooling) also simulated by using the validated finite element model. In the study, the layered system could be the recommended curing method in the foundation element to produce significant savings in time, effort, and cost on an actual construction project.
