How much money do you have? I don't mean the balance of your bank account(s) or the equity in your mutual fund(s) or the investment in your home(s). I mean cash, in your pocket. Chances are, hardly any. You'd consider it foolish, in fact, to carry your life savings around or leave it lying on a desk in your den. It's a different story with music, movies, family photos, and other digital content. For the most part, we want these where we can get our hands on them. And though we may entrust Citibank or Vanguard with enormous sums of money, we are wary about backing up data off-site or relying on a remote server to stream us our own copy of The Godfather.
