Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) systems are used for monitoring and determining the health of machinery predictively. Graphic user interfaces (GUIs) are the preferred method of Human Computer Interaction (IICI) used by CBM systems. Guidelines and rules aimed at assisting the CBM software GUI design and development process are not presently standardised. It is the intension of this research to initiate the creation of a standard set of rules and guidelines, firstly via survey. Results from seventy seven participating survey respondents are presented in this paper. The results identify values and the level of importance associated with various GUI design factors, CBM software design considerations, and issues anticipated to affect the saleability of CBM software. Survey results represent a direct continuation from two previously published surveys conducted by the authors: Higgs et al. [2004] and Higgs et al. [2006]. Survey results are presented in descending percentage majority vote, highest to lowest for each set of questions. Towards the end of the paper, each result Is grouped into a hierarchical list. The list repre-sents a proposal for an initial set of CBM software GUI design and development guidelines and rules.
