摘要

The unbalance and shaft misalignment are the most common causes of vibration in rotating machinery. Forward curved Centrifugal Blower, one such rotating machine, finds wide usage in industrial applications. When the power supply to any rotating system is cutoff, the system begins to lose the momentum gained during sustained operation and finally comes to rest. The exact time period between the power cutoff time and the time at which the rotor stops is called Coast Down Time. In this paper. unbalance and misalignment effects are investigated experimentally in forward curved centrifugal blower test rig using coast down lime analysis as a condition monitoring parameter. The results are analyzed to assess the potential of using CDT as a diagnostic condition monitoring tool for detecting and analyzing unbalance and shaft misalignment problems in rotating machinery.
