Held in the engineering department of Cambridge University, this was the latest conference -and the first to be held in the UK - in the FRPRCS (Fibre-reinforced Plastics for Reinforced Concrete Structures) series, that began in Vancouver in 1993. The June issue of CONCRETE was published to coincide with the event, which was co-sponsored by The Concrete Society. More than 200 delegates from across the world attended and discussed fibre-reinforced plastics which, in their various forms, offer new and more durable ways of reinforcing new structures than steel reinforcement and provide more cost-effective ways of strengthening existing structures.
