Concrete and the Environment

摘要

The purpose of this special feature is to present an overview of how concrete affects our environment in its production and use. It is not a 'publicity document' extolling the virtues of concrete construction, nor is it a comprehensive thesis on the environmental pros and cons of concrete compared with other construction materials. Rather, it is aimed at those who already use, or are considering the use of, concrete and wish to be aware of the environmental issues. It is hoped that the feature will be useful for members of The Concrete Society and readers of CONCRETE in discussing these issues with their clients and colleagues.
