Weston-super-Mare Sea Defences

Weston-super-Mare is a low-lying and popular seaside town, which is now beginning to benefit from a major new sea defence. The scheme is designed to protect over 4000 properties from flooding and is being delivered in three phases in order to minimise disruption to the town. A key driver in the design of the defences was to provide a new defence that was not only cost-effective and functional but also one that used and enhanced existing structures and features. Phase 2a of the project was to provide much needed scour protection to the century-old masonry wall, over a length of 900m.
