Fibre-reinforced concrete for structural toppings to beam-and-block floors

A structural screed or topping is provided, not only to provide the finished floor, but also to act as an independent structural element, spanning between beams where the infill blocks are considered to act as non-load-bearing.Typically, a topping thickness of 75 mm is adopted. Using traditional fabric reinforcement was problematic in achieving appropriate cover, when placing and lapping reinforcement in a thin section of concrete.
