Concrete durability specifications in an international context

In recent years, concrete durability issues have increasingly gained importance throughout the world. Durability design approaches and specifications of different countries are highlighted in an international comparison. The South African approach for structural life span prediction using simple durability index tests is introduced. These performance based test methods allow concrete mix specifications for individual projects, which offers practical solutions especially for the precast concrete industry.
