The town's wish for a primary school extension and the rebuilding of the kindergarten was coupled with the request that the school surroundings, which are used to a great extent by the public in the Guthirt quarter, be retained as far as possible. In response the architect Peter Frei designed a modern school complex with slender concrete facade elements.
