Australian wines continue their invasion of world markets, with a domestic oversupply of grapes giving new impetus to exports, albeit at lower prices. Shipping space is in high demand - but producers are strictly relay-averse, as Dale Crisp reports. Despite increasing challenges from fellow so-called New World wine producers in South Africa and South America, and renewed fight-backs by those in the traditional European wine-producing regions, it seems that Australian wine-makers are pleasing the palates of an ever-expanding number of tipplers worldwide.
