The Global Institute of Logistics and Germanischer Lloyd (GL) have produced a new benchmark standard by which the efficiency of container terminals can be assessed. Known as the Container Terminal Quality Indicator (CTQI), it enables each terminal's customers to determine if it is efficient, or one to be avoided. Wilhelm Loskot, head of Shipping and Logistics at GL Certification, commented: 'The way that terminals are assessed has been fully discussed with terminal operators and their customers.
