The severity of the global recession in Russia this year has caught many by surprise. However, it has been a blessing and a curse for logistics service providers. A curse because of the decline in cargo - Russian ports experienced a 48% decline in container traffic in the first five months of the year, compared to around 16% for the rest of northern Europe. And a blessing because it has provided everyone with enough breathing space to combat congestion in a more efficient way.
