Despite posting a 33% reduction in its net income in HI 10, Chiquita Brands' ceo, Fernando Aguirre, said the multinational was on course for one of its 'most profitable years in the past decade. In an interim statement, the group alluded to the only downside in the results as 'the sustained and significant reduction in European exchange rates that had not been factored into expectations'. In contrast, Dole's profit from continuing operations grew to USD33 million, up from USD21 million in HI 09. Revenue was up marginally (2%) to USD1.74 billion.
