One of the hottest topics at the moment is the apparent growth in the number of companies Looking to move production closer to their home market because of the increasing cost of producing in China and then transporting to the final market. If the impact of a development was based on the number of articles that had been written about it, then shipping lines and ports should be expecting to experience a significant drop off in volumes over the next few years as a result of nearsourcing, or nearshoring as it is also known. However, some in the container industry argue that the nearsourcing only applies to a minimal number of businesses and in reality; it is a lot of hype about nothing.
