Battered and bruised by the price war that is devastating the liner shipping trades, container Lessors are following the example of ocean carriers with their own rationalisation efforts. The clear-out looks certain to see a small elite firmly established at the top, and some weaker players with modest trade shares possibly disappearing from the scene, such are the financial challenges that they are confronting. This scenario is not dissimilar from that envisaged for container lines.
