摘要

As we approach the millennium, it seems that there may be something in Nostradamus' prediction of the end of the world, even if we have safely passed his end date! We have experienced, what appears to be an unusually large number of natural disasters. The last few years of this millennium have brought the return of the El Nino phenomenon resulting in the cyclical shifting of water temperatures in the eastern Pacific Ocean, which affects weather systems worldwide.
