摘要

Botnet-based spam levels were creeping up again late in November after an alleged spam operation that had been shut down managed to reconnect briefly to the internet. McColo, a company that security researchers say has links to spam, child pornography and botnets, had its connectivity removed on November 11, after investigative reporting by journalist Brian Krebs at the Washington Post. The company had long been targeted by security researchers as being the source of several malicious activities on the internet. It hosted command and control networks for botnets including Warezov, Rustock and Srizbi, according to researchers at security firm SecureWorks.
