Computer solutions of problems in cyclic plasticity re- mains as a challenging area in continuum mechanics and engineering mainly due to the difficulty associated with the hysteresis phenomenon that occurred during cyclic load- ing. While available commercial packages may offer tem- porary solutions to contain applications, they are in general not guranteed with the desired accuracy. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate a convergent method by which a typical initial boundary value problem in one-dimensional cyclic plasticity can be solved. We implement the method in a small scale by aid of a DAE solver Ddassl.
