When the September-October issue of Competitive Intelligence eventually rose to the top of my evening reading pile, the theme title on the front page, "The Future Direction of Competitive Intelligence," proved irresistible. And, the emotional synapses in my aging brain began to spew forth feelings of expectant promise when I read the article titles. My simple hope was that at last I would find a set of articles that took on some of the critical challenges that must be addressed if we are to truly transform the practice of intelligence work from what it has been to what, at least from my vantage point, it can be - indeed must be.rnAlas, I was disappointed. The three articles provide much food for thought and, in many respects, help point us in a positive direction.
