Few can deny there is a bandwidth crunch at the network edge. More users, faster computers, and more demanding applications—including Internet access, videoconferencing, streaming video and IP telephony—are quickly using up available bandwidth. Until recently, T-1 speeds were sufficient to satisfy most business needs, but with these increased demands, 1.5 Mbps no longer meets growing requirements. The next step up, T-3, can be cost prohibitive—and often unavailable.
