In this letter, a predictive unicast and multicast scheduling (PUMS) scheme is proposed for onboard buffered crossbar switches to cope with time-variant traffic composition. The multicast service ratios required with respect to traffic composition ratio are deduced in theory to guarantee stability and fairness. In the proposed scheme, the multicast service ratios are obtained by a real-time traffic prediction in advance. Accordingly, the bandwidth and crosspoint buffers are adaptively assigned. Simulation results indicate that the proposed PUMS exhibits a promising performance under various traffic scenarios with both fixed and time-variant traffic composition ratios.
