ELECTRA GLIDES ON

Lancashire-based NRG, with its Electra brand, has stolen a march on its rivals by reaching supply agreements with Daimler and IVECO, in addition to existing smaller-scale deals with Dennis and Isuzu. The new deals provide two major benefits -access to the trucks' CAN-bus systems and the supply of "gliders", fully functional trucks minus engine and gearbox. The Daimler deal currently applies only to the Mercedes-Benz Econic but could extend to the full range in future. The co-operation means customers can obtain an electric Econic that carries an official Mercedes-Benz VIN, making it visible to the service network as a Daimler product.
