Does it make sense to have more than 550hp on tap if the majority of your work is on 44-tonne work? Steve Walker believes it just might. As MD of Worcestershire haulier S Walker Transport, he has recently acquired nine Scania 6x2 Topline Griffin tractor units powered by 560hp 15.6-litre V8s married to two-pedal Opticruise gearboxes. They were all sourced from dealer Keltruck and, like the rest of the fleet, are used to haul moving-floor semi-trailers laden with everything from paper and cardboard to plastic, metal turnings to defunct electrical appliances, all destined to be recycled. "We move wood chippings too," he says.
