Picture the scene: It's 5am and a Mercedes-Benz truck with a full load of wet fish has just ground to a halt. The Customer Assistance Centre has been alerted and a dedicated Service24h technician 'scrambled', but despite the early hour he's still more than half an hour away. Hopefully, when he does arrive, he'll be able to repair the fault at the roadside and send the vehicle on its way. But it's by no means guaranteed, so a recovery to the workshop is always a possibility. The implications, given the time-sensitive nature of the load, mean that what has already been a bad start to the day for the operator's transport manager, could be about to get a lot worse.
